README

As the main character of this game, you spawn as a drone under a pile of debris, inside of what seems to be some sort of facility in outer space. This is a 2D scene. You will be able to move the drone up, down, left and right, and, under particular circumstances, to the back. All controls will be done with keyboard at this point. As you move for the first time, you will be almost inevitably damaged as you emerge from the wreckage. Pay attention to the HULL integrity bar at the lower left section of the screen. When empty, you will lose control of the drone and the game will be over. In this first scene, there is almost no real threat to you. You only lose hull integrity by crashing the drone against walls, floor or roof at high speeds. And you would need to do this multiple times to destroy the drone.

You will likely figure out how to access the 3D scene quite easily. Once there, your objective is to diagnose the issues with the power generator and resolve them by acquiring new skills. Movement in this scene expands to include both keyboard and mouse controls, offering a standard 3D experience: the mouse is used for rotation, while the keyboard handles direction and other abilities the drone will unlock. The goal is to identify the generator's problems and gain the skills necessary to repair it. Skills are acquired by interacting with consoles scattered throughout the scene. Some skills may be required to access additional consoles that provide specific abilities.

ABOUT THIS GAME

I was born in 1980 and have played videogames since my parents bought an ATARI console back in the early 80's. After the ATARI I had a Commodore 64C, and then an XT PC and stayed in PC gaming for ever since then. I lived the rise of Graphic Adventures in the 90's. Played The Secret of Monkey Island for years before I could finish it, in co-op with many friends from school. It was really a team effort to put all the pieces of the puzzle together!

Then I lived the rise of RTS games: Warcraft, Red Alert, and then Age of Empires was definitely the King, but, in retrospective, I felt a little sad about this, because this came with the broadband massification in my country and in a year or two, it was all about multiplayer games.

Now I'm 44 and my son was born just a few months ago. And I feel nostalgic about those games which, you could play on your own at home, and then go to school and talk with your friends about how far you got on the night before and what you did to be able to move forward. Or, invite a friend home and play together to maybe, MAYBE, figure out a solution together. This doesn't happen anymore, and decided to give it a try for the new gamers generations.

I took care of the entire game development myself. I used many Unity Asset Store prefabs and resources, and freesound.org clips, which are credited in the game itself. I will enable a dedicated email account to receive bug reports and suggestions. In the meantime, you can do so by following my Instagram account

F.A.Q.

IS THIS DEMO PUBLISHED IN ANY BUNDLERS SUCH AS STEAM, EPIC GAMES, ETC?

Not yet, since they have a lot of requirements which I have not met yet. But I plan to do so, and of course the first release of the full game will be published in a game bundler

WHERE CAN I REPORT BUGS OR SUBMIT SUGGESTIONS?

For now, just send me a DM on my Instagram account. I am planning on enabling a dedicated email account.

WHY DON'T YOU PROVIDE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE MAIN CHARACTER STORY?

Part of the game is to actually find out what happened to this drone, why is it under a pile of debris, and what happened to this ship it "lives" in. Providing more information would spoil the experience.
